Book Review | Taking Chances by Molly McAdams

Taking Chances (Taking Chances #1)

Author: Molly McAdams
Published: October 16, 2012

Raised by her strict military father, 18 year old Harper grew up doing drills together with the jar-heads in the camp. Her father kept her home schooled and she doesn't have any friends besides the jar heads and her best friend, Carter who was a member of her father’s unit. Now that she’s now going to college, she was beyond happy that she could finally do whatever she wants without her father watching. It was, after all, the day she’s been waiting for.

Everything seems perfect for Harper. Her new roommate and best friend introduced her to a lot of things. She got a boyfriend who is head over heels in love with her, and was grateful for Bree’s family, who welcomed and loved her like she was their long-lost daughter.

But little did she know that it will only take a night to change her life.

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. There’s too much angst and crying involved. It was kind of addicting, even though I have some issues on the relationship that Harper and Brandon have (the progress of their relationship from friends to boyfriend-girlfriend was waaaay to fast for me). Though some parts in the book were kind of predictable, it never failed to make me bawl my eyes out (and I’m team Chase all the way, honey).
